FORMULA STUDENT SPAIN

Formula Student is a competition which is held annually around the world to promote excellence among a wide variety of teams that had worked throughout the year in the design and construction of a single-seater racing car.

For the first time in Spain, with the collaboration of spanish institutions and relevant companies in the automotive industry, the Spanish Society of Automotive Engineers, STA, in September 2010 organized the first Spanish pre-event of Formula Student, providing an opportunity to students from different universities to demonstrate the work performed at the famous Circuit de Catalunya.

Formula Student allows students to practice all those knowledge acquired so far, simulating a real situation, in which the team must work as if they stayed in a company. Students are forced to be introducing themselves in the industrial area in order to look for suppliers or sponsors. The work under pressure, planning or control costs are several aspects that should be managed by them, and will leading students to a higher level in their education, developing new skills, learning to cope with real situations and becoming better engineers.

The purpose of the competition is to simulate a real situation where a company hires engineers race to develop a prototype. The racecar must comply very good driving characteristics in acceleration, braking, and stability, it should be easy to maintain, at reasonable cost and with a high degree of reliability.

In the course of the competition "Formula Student" teams are evaluated at both theoretical and practical levels, and must demonstrate both their knowledge and their management skills, such as the construction of a car, present a marketing plan or economic planning.ams must succesfully pass an exhaustive programme with:
