The Automotive Industry Cluster of Catalonia (CIAC) is a non-profit association open to companies operating in the automotive industry, that are based in Catalonia, and pursue R&D+i activities. The Cluster does not rely on any public funding and is financed exclusively through contributions from its associate companies. Over 200 companies linked to the industry have joined the Catalan automotive cluster since it was established. This group of companies has a turnover of more than €20,000 million and provides employment for over 40,000 people.
The main aim of the association is to boost the competitiveness of the automotive industry as the driving force behind the Catalan economy. To achieve this, a strategic plan has been designed, with a series of short, medium, and longterm objectives that guarantee its development in the new industrial global framework.
